The world has become a complicated place. I think fondly of the backpacking days in the 90’s of just going and living in the moment. The pandemic gave all of us a lot to think about when considering traveling: environmental impacts, international conflict, wealth inequity, and the unavoidable question of spreading disease. With the multitude of crises that are happening around the globe, we are being forced to ask ourselves not only “is it safe to travel?” but also should I travel? Is it ethical to travel? What are the impacts of taking a trip? Is there any benefit to tourism or is it just a destructive force?
