Travel just got a little more tedious this past month

If you are planning to travel to the UK any time soon, you’ll need to file for a new permission, called an Electronic Travel Authorization, or ETA.

What is the Deal?

Americans have had the longtime luxury of going almost anywhere without a visa, particularly in Europe. The problem has been, though, that the US hasn’t reciprocated for EU/UK nationals, requiring them to apply for ETIAS, a digital visa, before visiting. This has been a point of contention for EU/UK governments, and is one piece of the motivation to require Americans to also file for entry.
